Gavel in Bangkok Thailand

The International Gavel Project is about to start a life of its own. I've decided to deposit the Gavel in the care of WBro. Prof. Krisda Arunvongse in Bangkok Thailand. I am wrapping up the SE Asia leg of my own world journey in the next month but think the gavel should see much more places before it leaves.

So now it is up to the GAOTU and all the Brethren to keep this project alive. The gavel has travelled more than a few kilometers in the past 7 months. Though it wasn't used in every country it has visited the following countries: Canada, France, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Denmark, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Serbia, Bosnia, Croatia, Montenegro, Albania, Greece, Turkey, India, Sri Lanka and Thailand!

I'm excited to see how this project works out, when I will get my first e-mail from Brethren about it. Very exciting time!

A Beautiful 3rd degree was performed. Magnificent floor work and excellent ritual, made more impressive by the fact that it was very shortly after installation of officers!

General Business Meeting of Lodge.

My apologies for taking so long to make this post, but I wanted to include a picture and the internet cafes have been rather unacepting of large photographs due to the speed/quality of the lines!

This was a very nice meeting in Jhansi, probably one of the quickest meetings I've ever attended! The festive board and enjoyable conversations after the meeting were really the highlight of the evening!

This was the first time the Gavel had been used in India! The meeting had the passing of two Brethren and you can read more about the evening at my On The Level Blog. It was a very enjoyable night and I thank all the Brethren from Lodge Star of Agra for their kindness.

This was a really interesting evening, with two FCs being passed. The ritual is not too different from our own, though their wording is a tad different. The tracing board description is really in depth and very enjoyable.

It was a wonderful evening with a very symbolic and beautiful degree work. Much of the ritual is very different from my own, but much is the same, and though the language barrier was there, the understanding of the symbolism was loud and clear.

A first degree was conferred during the Lodge meeting. Afterwards a wonderful meal was served and the gavel was used to conduct the "table" lodge.

It was a really great evening and there is a possibility the Gavel will be used for a 3rd time for a second degree this Friday in Maastricht, Holland.

Headed To Europe

The International Traveling Gavel will leaving Canada on October 6, 2006. I fly out of Toronto, Ontario at 3:30PM EST to a brief stop in Montreal, Quebec and then on to Paris, France. The estimated landing time will be 0730HRS (Local) on October 7, 2006.

I don't believe I will be going to any Lodges in the next week prior to my flight.
